Summary of Position Description

This position will provide leadership for centralized, multi departmental curricular efforts around Graduate Medical Education,       Undergraduate Medical Education including the MMC.TUSM medical school program, Continuing Medical Education and faculty          development.

 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

        1.   Portfolio demonstrating professional competency for learning methods and instructional techniques,

              curriculum development and design.

        2.   Ed.D. or Ph.D. required or M.Ed. with a minimum 10 years experience with curriculum and faculty

              development in Medical Education field.

        3.   Comprehensive understanding of accreditation requirements in medical education.

 

        4.   High level analytical skills to diagnose learning needs and evaluate educational content.

 

        5.   Portfolio demonstrating superior leadership and interpersonal skills resulting in effective outcomes.

                                                

                                                               ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

   Relationship Management

 

               Maintain a guiding, facilitative, and supportive relationship with UME & GME program directors and                other key faculty around     curriculum development, evaluation and faculty development.

 

 

               Create and maintain an effective centralized system that enhances sharing and collaboration across                GME programs.

 

               Develop methods to deliver and assess core competencies curriculum at all levels.

 

                        Assume lead role at MMC working with residency leadership to plan, develop, strengthen, and support   the integration          of appropriate pedagogy into departmental educational activities.

 

 

               Provide a leadership and support role, maintaining an effective, collaborative relationship with TUSM                counterparts.

 

               Assume a lead role in curriculum development including, competencies, evaluation and outcome                                                                                                         measures.

 

 

 

   Faculty Development

 

               Chair faculty development committee.

 

               Provide guidance and assistance with specific educational activities.

 

               Design, implement, and maintain a strategic institutional faculty development system, and faculty                development activities.

 

               Provide mentorship in instructional methods.

 

               Assume lead role for faculty development efforts around UME, GME and CME.

 

               Ensure continued compliance with ACCME guidelines.

 

               Serve on various teams, work groups, and committees as needed.

 

   Process Improvement

 

               Conduct medical education scholarly activity as well as process improvement activities.

 

               Collaborate with multiple faculty to plan, develop, and complete medical education scholarly    activities.
