Evaluation Specialist The Academic Center for Excellence in Teaching (ACET) is seeking to hire a program evaluator who will provide planning and evaluation consultation services to faculty, administrators, departments and committees at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. The program evaluator will support educational and research efforts of faculty, administrators, departments and centers within the University through survey design, quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, report writing and presentations. The program evaluator reports to the Director of the Academic Center for Excellence in Teaching. Responsibilities: - Prepare evaluation sections of grant/contract proposals for securing external funding
- Identify optimal program evaluation models and research designs to be employed in the design of evaluation initiatives.
- Assist in coordinating complex program evaluation initiatives involving multiple stakeholders to ensure that all assessment activities are conducted rigorously and under tight deadlines.
- Design and administer survey instruments and qualitative data collection mechanisms, including generating protocols for use with focus groups and structured or semi-structured interviews.
- Transcribe, classify and summarize qualitative data using relevant data reduction techniques (e.g., thematic analysis, structural coding).
- Assist in entering and analyzing quantitative data and summarizing results.
- Conduct literature reviews and identify relevant sources of information for evaluation purposes.
- Assist in disseminating results through reports, publications and presentations.
Qualifications Required: - Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work accurately with detailed, complex and confidential information.
- Ability to work well with time constraints, schedules and competing priorities in a multi-task environment.
- Experience leading, conducting and managing research and evaluation projects that incorporate qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies.
- Ability to analyze educational and other processes to identify gaps to recommend improvements, policies, and procedures.
- Familiarity with program evaluation concepts, applications and standards.
- Familiarity with educational protocol development
- Ability to be a team player and to actively participate in developing and planning for organizational needs.
- Ability to summarize research findings for a range of target audiences, including funders, policymakers, academics, management and staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Qualifications Preferred: - Familiarity with institutional review boards and consent processes.
- Familiarity with statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS).
- Familiarity with logic modeling and quality and process improvement concepts.
Education: Doctoral degree in program evaluation, educational psychology, health research or an equivalent field or Masters degree in any of those fields with five years of evaluation experience.
