Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics McMaster University Faculty Position in Medical Education Research The Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (CE&B) and the Program for Educational Research and Development (PERD) within the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University invite applications for a faculty position in medical education research at the Associate or Full Professor level (dependent on qualifications) to begin on or before September 1, 2010. The individual would be appointed to the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (http://www.fhs.mcmaster.ca/ceb), which is renowned for its pioneering research and education programs; it provides an exciting academic environment, operating on a collegial model with interdisciplinary research teams and a mentorship program for junior faculty. The individual would also be a member of the Program for Educational Research and Development (PERD), which has overall responsibility to foster and encourage educational research and development across the Faculty of Health Sciences. The successful candidate will maintain or develop his/her own research program related to learning and assessment, or other areas of health professions education. S/he should have particular expertise in psychometrics, statistics and research design. As the Faculty is developing initiatives in e-learning technologies and simulation technologies, expertise and interest in these areas would be very desirable. As a faculty member in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, s/he will be expected to teach graduate courses and supervise students in the Health Research Methodology program. As a member of PERD, s/he will be expected to collaborate and consult with other members in the Faculty, to initiate and sustain research and development in health sciences education. An opportunity exists for the incumbent to assume a leadership role within PERD. Applicants should have formal graduate training at the PhD level or equivalent, with specific training in psychometrics, statistics, and education.
