The University of Illinois at Chicago Department of Medical Education [(DME) formerly the Center for Educational Development] invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in faculty development and continuing professional development, encompassing all the roles of a faculty member.
The ideal candidate for this Assistant/Associate Professor position will be a mid-career individual with demonstrated scholarship in teaching and learning, instructional methods, and faculty and continuing professional development. Demonstrated expertise in designing and conducting faculty development programs is expected; experience teaching physicians and other health professionals is desirable. A doctorate degree is required.
This academic position carries responsibilities in three areas: research, teaching, and service. Research and service activities will vary with the specific interests of the applicant. The individual in this position will collaborate with other DME faculty to conduct faculty and continuing professional development activities and programs, such as the Faculty Development Fellowship and the Residents as Teachers program. DME faculty members are also expected to teach in the department's Master of Health Professions Education [MHPE] program. For example, the current incumbent co-teaches the core course "Instruction and Assessment" and offers electives in instructional methods, faculty development and continuing professional development, and CME.

Director, Office of Medical Education
Florida International University (FIU) College of Medicine is seeking a Director of Medical Education for its new College of Medicine. This is the first medical school to open in a major metropolitan area in a quarter-century and the first public medical school in south Florida.
The Director of Medical Education will establish the office, hire a staff and lead the educational unit supporting the medical education program. The Director of Medical Education will develop and conduct faculty development programs and activities that facilitate effective teaching and learning and will lead in the development of a comprehensive student performance evaluation plan.
Minimum requirements are master's degree and six (6) years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree and eight (8) years of appropriate experience. The Departmental preference is MD, PhD or EdD, a minimum of seven (7) years experience in medical education and experience in medical education leadership.

Position Description:
The Director of Evaluation will coordinate evaluation and assessment services for the academic community at Columbia University Medical Center on behalf of the Center for Education Research and Evaluation (e.g, evaluations of courses, learners, faculty, and grants). The Director will work with administration and faculty across the medical center to promote scholarship in the field of evaluation, build a community of evaluation specialists, and contribute to a shared understanding of "best practices" in evaluation and assessment. The Director will report to the Assistant V.P. for Education Research and Evaluation.
Qualifications:
Master's degree and at least five years of related experience in an evaluation field, such as statistics, measurement, educational psychology, or instructional design (PhD preferred). Familiarity with program evaluation models. Proficiency with statistics, psychometrics, research design. Prior track record of scholarship (ability to publish). Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong computer, data management and analytical skills. Proficiency with ACCESS, SPSS (or equivalent). Ability to work within and lead teams.

Assistant Professor. The Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Medicine, McGill University, are soliciting applications for a research position at the assistant professor level. The main field of interest is in educational program evaluation with specific reference to the impact and outcomes of a new undergraduate medical school curriculum that is being introduced at McGill University. The new and innovative curricular component, called Physicianship, aims to prepare medical students for their future roles as healers and professionals. Strategies in program evaluation have the potential to include the following constituents: current students, prospective applicants to medical school, educators, patients, alumni and the community at large.
Education/Experience: The successful candidate must hold a PhD with expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Experience in program evaluation, particularly in the field of health sciences education, would be an asset. Knowledge of advanced quantitative and qualitative data analysis is preferred. Evidence of effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment will be sought. The successful applicant will hold a non-tenure track appointment in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology in the Faculty of Education and be appointed as a Core Member of the Centre for Medical Education in the Faculty of Medicine.
The incumbent will report jointly to the Director, Centre for Medical Education and the Dean, Faculty of Education for academic duties, and to the Director of the Office of Curriculum Development, Faculty of Medicine, for the specific project noted above. This position is a contract position for a minimum of three years, with an automatic review performed after 1 year. The salary will be commensurate with experience. Pre/Post Doctoral Medical Education Fellowship
Cleveland Clinic
The Pre/Post Doctoral Medical Education Fellowship is designed to assist an individual with advanced training in the educational, social or behavioral sciences who has completed all required coursework for her/his dissertation or have recently completed her/his dissertation to develop expertise in the design, implementation, and evaluation of medical education programs. The Fellowship is funded by the Division of Education at the Cleveland Clinic and based in the Center for Medical Education Research and Development (CMERAD). CMERAD is responsible for curriculum development, faculty development, program evaluation, and computer-based education development in all education programs conducted by the Cleveland Clinic. These program areas include undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education, allied health education, and patient education. The Fellowship provides a unique opportunity to learn about the broad spectrum of medical education and to focus on an area of specific interest to the individual.
The Fellow will work with medical education development and evaluation mentors to learn basic concepts and their application in medical education through a process of regular meetings with their mentors, scholarly reviews of the literature, participation in internal and national education conferences, and enrollment in research courses offered at the Cleveland Clinic. The Fellow is expected to be actively involved in planning and conducting projects within CMERAD, and will be responsible for one major project during the Fellowship that will be submitted for presentation at an appropriate national meeting.
The Fellowship is renewable at the end of 12 months based on satisfactory performance (in keeping with Cleveland Clinic policy) for a total of two years. An additional third year can be negotiated. The salary is competitive and depends on the experience, qualifications, and doctoral status of the individual; the position includes a comprehensive benefit package. In addition, travel and meeting expenses for one national meeting a year is provided to support the Fellowship requirement of a scholarly presentation every year.

The department maintains a substantive general surgical residency graduating six chief residents a year, and maintains over 30 residents during their development.
